Required Preparatory Courses
TH 1101 Introduction to Theatre (4cr)
TH 1501 Introduction Design and Technology for Live Performance (3cr)*

TH 3100 Theatre Practicum (1credit each, 4 credits total, S/N only, up to 2 may be in acting)

TH 4177 or 4178 Survey of Dramatic Lit I or II (3cr)

*Please Note:
All of these prerequisites will be enforced.
- TH 1501 is a prerequisite for or should be taken concurrently with TH 3571.
- TH 3571 is a perquisite for any of the design courses.
- TH 1501 is a prerequisite for or should be taken concurrently with TH 1322.
- If a student is interested in taking some of the advanced design courses offered in the department they will first need to take the relative 3000 level course. For example if you want to take TH5540 Lighting Design, you will first need to take TH3541.
10 elective credits in upper division (3xxx, 4xxx, or 5xxx) theatre or dance courses are required for completion of the degree in Theatre Arts.

TH 3100 Theatre Practicum
The degree program requires four 1 credit practicum experiences throughout the course of study. Theatre practicum is designed to offer hands-on training in all areas of production work completed on the University Theatre Mainstage. Students can fulfill these credits in a variety of ways: working in any of the departmental shops (scenery, props, costumes, marketing), performing as actors, dramaturges, running crew, board operators, set-up/strike crew, house management, etc. for the run of a production. A total of two of these credits may be in the area of performance (acting).
A-F/S-N grading
TH 3100 and TH 4901 are offered S-N only, and majors may take only one additional theatre course S-N. All other coursework completed towards fulfillment of the BA degree must be taken on an A-F grading basis. All majors must hold a minimum of a 2.5 GPA within theatre arts coursework.
Registration Recommendations
The following order is recommended for completion of the BA Theatre Arts major:
First Year: 1101, 1321, 1322, 1501, 3100 (1 credit)
Second Year: 3171, 3172, 3571, 3521/31/41, 3100 (2 credits)
Third Year: 4177 or 4178, 3100 (1 credits), electives
Fourth Year: 4901, electives
Many of the upper division courses have a series of prerequisites. These are indicated in the OneStop course catalog. Some courses are sequential. (Ex. TH 5716, TH 5760) Please consider these factors during your academic planning.
