This is a wonderful city for young artists, and this theatre program is a
wonderful resource for emerging talent. There is room for all forms of
artistic expression, and an atmosphere that allows student artists to thrive while still developing their skills and methods in an environment
that honors great success just as much as noble failure. This theatre
department has given me so many tremendous opportunities. I graduate
having written, directed, and produced three of my own productions, not only upon the university’s stages but also within the greater Twin Cities, as well as working with local companies such as Stepping Stone Theatre and
The Children’s Theatre Company. I would not have had the same incredible opportunities without this theatre program, and I feel fully capable in my future career in the arts due to all that this institution has prepared me for.

I highly recommend coming to the University of Minnesota. The department has taught me how to be an artist through understanding theatre in its totality. For me theatre is political. It is my vehicle for encouraging social change. Through opportunities at the U I have found my voice as a woman in the arts."
